Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, emphasizes that all branches of authority in Ukraine should consolidate, elaborate a clear-cut action plan on the overcoming of crisis and exert every effort for its implementation.
According to V.Lytvyn, during the meeting with Javier Solana, Secretary General of the EU Council, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, on Tuesday in Brussels, he "emphasized the impossibility to consolidate basic political players in Ukraine till the presidential elections".
V.Lytvyn deems necessary "to define the principles of political behavior that should correspond to the complexity of the situation and responsibility of the whole Ukrainian political environment for the country". "These are the principles to be observed with a view to political responsibility and sound reason", - he stressed.
Moreover, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to reach common understanding of the politicians and take joint actions, so that "elections of the President of Ukraine in 2010 would be held transparently, without another political crisis".
"The country should obtain a clear-cut, transparent action plan to the elections-2010. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is mostly responsible for that. We should act consciously", - stated V.Lytvyn.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also believes that the EU should adhere to the policy of enhanced cooperation with Ukraine, including the policy of encouragement.
V.Lytvyn believes that the EU is interested in further cooperation with Ukraine in the energy sector, including modernization of Ukrainian gas transport system. He supposes that signing of the Agreement on Associated Membership between Ukraine and the EU and the resolution on economic integration with the European Union could become a substantial contribution to the stabilization of the political and economic situation in Ukraine.
